I love recipe and food blogs. The one thing I love most about them is the picture they take of all of the ingredients -- it always looks so appealing to me! Seeing the stack of ingredients all bundled together makes me want to cook! Plus, I just love the look of all the yummy foods enjoying each other's company. Why is that?! I don't know, but I love it.

I decided I wanted to take a picture of food grouped together, but I am not about to start a recipe blog. So, I thought we'd play a game instead.

There are a few minor ingredients that are missing -- chicken broth, vegetable oil, s/p.
Can you tell I shop at Walmart? :)
However, just for the record, I love to shop at Macey's instead!

Are we in trouble??

For FHE we were talking about baptism since our oldest is getting baptized soon. We were doing the little object lesson where the food coloring represents sin and the bleach is baptism and repentance. My daughter wanted a complete understanding so she asked, while pointing at the food coloring....

What is that?

I told her they were sins.
Her reply...

"I LIKE sins!!"

L'Oreal anyone?

This posting is a little late, but two friday nights ago, the kids wanted to do my makeup.
So,...I let them.
They think it is the greatest thing. They all chipped in and gave me quite the look.

If you look carefully you can even see the makeup on my neck.
(What you can't see is the eyeshadow in my ear.)

I realize this may damage the pristine ideal you have of me (HA!), but we sure had a great time that night.

I am determined to stop and take the time for more of these small and simple pleasures more often -- no matter the outcome. :)

In an attempt to organize one of the aspects of my life I have found this....

COZI.

This is a new online service for organizing your family schedules. I just started using it and I like it so far. It is very simple -- there aren't a lot of bells and whistles, (I kind of like that -- it keeps it from being too complicated), but it seems efficient and practical.

I won't go through all of the features I like , but I will say...

they use color coding! Yippee! Is it so wrong that color coding makes me feel...happy?!
No indeed.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed!

So {I} was a little bit grumpy this morning. I don't think she got quite enough sleep. She was upset, angry, crying, and sad all at once. I was helping her get dressed and she said through all of her dramatic tears,

"Mom, I don't like you."
I responded "You don't like me? Why don't you like me?"
Her reply,.....


"Because you're poop."

hee hee hee

Normally when my kids use bathroom words as an insult I address the issue -- today,

I just laughed.

Snow day anyone?

We have had SO MUCH snow lately!















{I} enjoying a break from the playing!

{A} may not have many teeth, but he's got plenty of energy to keep on playin'!















In case you didn't believe me -- these are our bins and they are even a little bit protected by a small tree/bush. Notice the recycling bin that is overflowing -- we can't get it out of there to take it to the curb.

Happy Birthday Big Guy!!!

This is my first attempt at a birthday posting. Since I'm still so new at this, I'll warn you now that this won't be a fancy slideshow like my rockstar sis, or an elaborate collage like my amazing friends, but instead will be a simple attempt to celebrate one of the greatest moments of my life -- the birth of my first born.

A few days ago my oldest son {A} turned 8!!!!! I don't know if I can even express in words how much I love this beautiful boy! But here it goes...

He is such a good kid. He is an old soul -- I think he understands more than I ever thought he would or even should. I love how curious he is -- he never stops asking questions about how things work or why things are the way they are. He wants to have a complete understanding of the world around him. I think his intelligence is going to surpass my ability to explain in just a short time from now. I love how kind he is to the underdog, or the new kid. I love how helpful he is around the house. I love how he really does want to do what is right. I love how he always wants to play games together. I love how he will tell me every minute detail to every story or event that he has experienced or heard. I love how observative he is of the world around him. He is an exceptional kid (of course, right?!) and I adore him!


Thank you {A} for being such a great example to me! I adore you and every minute that we get to enjoy together. I look forward to many years of learning from being your mom! I love you!

Hello World!!

...blogging world that is! I have ventured into the land where so many have gone before -- but that doesn't mean I'm a follower. No indeed. I am merely succombing to peer pressure. (That's better than being a follower right?!) :) I shall now be able to refer to myself as a "blogger." I get to join the league of fellow "bloggers" and put my thoughts out into the vast sea of computer land and...

Okay. Enough right? I know it's not that big of a deal, but I couldn't think of a better introduction for myself into the blogging kingdom.

So here it is...my blog, and subsequently, my first post. Don't be afraid or embarassed for me. I have great hopes of getting better at this.
