Hair Styling 101

A few tips for hair that will look just perfect.

 Start by getting a 5 year old stylist.

Next, don't brush your hair. Simply grab 3 pontyails and twist in some holders.

Finally, smile big about your amazing do and tell people that when others see you, you are sure they will say

"Wow. I love your hair. It is SO cute."

P.S. Be sure to smear a little dirt on your nose before you take your proud photos.

That's right folks. Sometimes she does her own hair.

A slight obsession

Someone in our home has a slight obsession with Nutella.

I don't want to name names, but he looks like this almost EVERY day.

He loves "chocolate toast" -- Nutella on toast.

Oh yes. Nutella is good.

Halloween 2010

WARNING: this post is fairly lengthy with a LOT of photos!

We had a great Halloween this year, even despite the bad weather during trick or treating.

We started out with a little pumpkin carving.

We always save the seeds and roast them. The kids love 'em.

However, this year we had A TON of seeds. We still haven't eaten all of them.

Liam was entirely grossed out by the pumpkin "guts" and refused to touch them at all.

My sister helped him out and did all of the work for him.

He loved it!

No one needed to help her. She dug right in.

This is Jonathon's cyclops. 

I wish I had a picture of it lit up -- it was really cool.

This is Isabella's.

She was very specific about the scary eyes, nose and mouth.

It had to be just right.

That's mine.

I needed it to be fast and easy.

It was much prettier all lit up.

I love Anders' with the disjointed eyes and the disconnected mouth.

I also love the slits for the nostrils.

One of my favorites though was Max's. 

I love all of those individual teeth.

He loved his pumpkin and it was just the right size.

Now bring on the costumes and trick or treating!

Isabella went as Dorothy. She is obsessed with Dorothy. She LOVES Wizard of Oz and has been talking about going as Dorothy since last Halloween.

I love this picture. She was truly happy.

Anders wanted to be Frodo.

Much to the disappointment of "Dorothy" he didn't want to be a character from Wizard of Oz.

 I think he makes a pretty good Frodo.

The whole family - minus me.

Isabella insisted Jonathon go as the Lion.

He had a tail on, but you can't see it when he sits. 

He is such a good dad and a good sport.

But, it still makes me laugh seeing him with that hat on.

(p.s. I was the Wicked Witch. I know. Appropriate right?)

 Ah, the lovely Dorothy with Toto.

 Thanks to the talent a ndhelp of my mother-in-law, she had the perfect costume.

It won't be going back in the costume bin.

It has earned a permanent home in her personal dress-up bin.
She LOVES it!
I think she wore it everyday from the day we got it.

 I kind of like this as a tradition-- my mother-in-law making one of the costumes. 

It was so much easier on me! :)

Thanks to the talents of a good friend, Max was a Jedi.

We borrowed the costume.

 He was really disappointed we had to give it back.

As per the request of Dorothy, Liam went as a Munchkin from the Lollipop Guild.

He's too young to argue and know better.

 Plus it made all of us laugh. 

He was pretty cute and he loved his pipe cleaner lollipop.

All ready to go.

The weather was so windy, cold, and horrible, that they didn't stay out long.

But, it was long enough.

Here she is with her loot.

Dig in baby! 

(I'm sorry he's turned. I've tried and tried and tried, but it won't stay flipped up right.)

Let the sorting begin.

Unfortunately, I didn't take the photos until after they had already imbibed a bit. 

The pile does however look surprisingly smaller than it did in person.

We had a great Halloween!
